The Dental Fair is held every two years in the German city of Cologne and always brings together people from all over the world who want to know the latest technological innovations in the market. We knew that it was very important to show the progress and evolution of our brand with the exhibition of the new S3 and S5 series.

We moved the entire team, from the most technical staff to the commercial and during the five days that the event lasted we dedicated to show and explain the new dental treatment units.

The IDS started on March 12, but that day was more for distributors. The “big” start was on Wednesday, March 13, the day in which all the dentists, hygienists, assistants, surgeons and professionals of the sector arrived.

The ANCAR stand was located in Hall 11.3, at posts G020 and J029 and had dimensions of more than 100m2 where you could have a coffee, snack at our catering service and learn about the ergonomics of our units and the technology that our company uses at the same time.

You could also see the global presence of ANCAR thanks to a map of the world hanging on the stand and see what the great advantages of the new series are with a video wall explaining the six fundamental pillars: technology, value, design, ergonomics, flexibility and human factor. In short these six words are part of the philosophy and essence of our brand and are the values ​​we want to promote.

The IDS in data:

As we have said before, the IDS exhibition is the most important in the dental sector. Therefore, it is not surprising that it is held in a space of 170,000m2 in which more than 2,300 exhibitors were installed.

Another of the most impressive data is that in total there were more than 160,000 visitors at the fair, who came from 166 different countries. Half of them being German and the other half foreign professionals who travel to Cologne to see what’s new in the market. A fact that proves the great global relevance of this dental event.

Ancar continues to innovate in the dental sector. This time it presents a new model of auxiliary tray with a useful surface area of 290 x 375 mm.

This accessory can support from 0 to 4 kg of weight in adjustable intervals, representing a major step forward in size/weight terms that stands out among high-end products.

The tray has three rotation points so that the dentist can place it in just the right position with one hand and adapt it to their preferred way of working. It is balanced by sets of elastic rings to give the tray better, more secure balance than conventional springs. It also features a removable panel to carry two standard instrument trays. Intraoral cameras offer the patient the possibility to visualize in real time and in great detail his own oral cavity at the same time that the dentist makes the diagnosis. It is a very effective way to generate confidence in the patient. The intraoral camera allows the dentist to explain to the patient his diagnosis in a more direct way, it will be of greater impact and the patient will feel more involved.

And going further: Many patients come to your practice with a specific ailment and you will find other details that need treatment. By not presenting symptoms of pain, patients do not come to realize something needs to be treated. In these cases, the intraoral camera will give greater credibility to the diagnosis by being able to show the problem directly to the patient.

How does an intraoral camera work?

The intraoral cameras consist of a hand piece with a built-in light and with one or several lenses, which is inserted into the patient’s mouth to make the diagnosis. By means of a cable, or wirelessly, it is connected to your dental unit, a monitor, (or other devices: computer, laptop, tablet, etc.) allowing to see in real time the interior of the patient’s oral cavity.

With the new updates that the technology industry has been making, intraoral cameras are becoming more practical and comfortable. Thanks to the fact that the handpiece can be connected to any computer with a USB port, they allow to see the images in great detail. There are also cameras with the possibility of taking pictures and inserting memory cards to store the photos and pass them comfortably to the computer.

What to keep in mind when buying an intraoral camera?

IMAGE QUALITY

A basic difference between a good and bad intraoral camera is the resolution and sharpness of the images (in addition to the autofocus quality). A diagnosis made with a camera with low resolution will give little contribution to the patient and would not be profitable.

LIGHT SOURCE

You must take into account the type of light and its power to increase the sharpness of the image. Most have LED lights that are more resistant to scratches, liquids and bumps than halogen lights. They have a whiter light and greater durability.

In addition, there are some intraoral cameras that are designed with fluorescent UV light for caries detection.

VERSATILITY

New instrument arm and delivery tray

A big change in the delivery tray is the 3D movement of the instrument hoses of the continental delivery system. As well as the removable, autoclavable and adjustable instrument holders for the hanging hoses delivery tray.  The handles on both delivery systems are removable and adjustable and due to changes in the arm the tray moves very smooth and is very to handle.  They have also changed the design of the tray in order to make it sleeker and more modern. By minimizing the delivery tray, you minimalize the visual impact for the patient.

Assistant keyboard and small instrument tray

The assistant side gets renewed with a complete new capacitive keyboard which you can adjust in height as you wish. The small instrument tray can be put in various positions or you can opt for the new Ancar Tray: a very light to handle tray that can support up to 4 kg or 8,8 pounds.

New Touch Screen: Touch Expert Pro

Ancar has invested years in designing a new touch screen and it seems to be one of the most competitive ones on the market.  A big, modern touch screen, ambidextrous (you can put it on both sides of the instrument tray), orientable (vertical or horizontal) a lot more regulations of the unit and instruments, and so much more. Apart from these changes, Ancar has also opted for new electronics, new low-tension motors and finally… to incorporate their current series 7 knee-break chair in the new S3 and S5 range. Which basically means you can have a fully reclining (90º) knee-break chair in combination with vertical elevation. Hereby reducing the visual impact of the chair and allowing a much better working position for both dentist and assistant.

Types of pedals according to the dental equipment

The pedal is one of the most important elements in a dental unit. Thanks to this pedal we can activate the instruments that have rotation and the chair controls.

Depending on the model we choose we will have one type of pedal or another, the most common being the pedals with levers. The pedal can have a vertical activation or on the side and can present a square, rectangular or round shape.

Over the years, advances in technology and the rise of innovation also in the dental sector, we are increasingly seeing more multifunction wireless pedals. One of the advantages of ANCAR Series 3, 5 and 7 models are their wireless pedals with WiFi connection.

These are multi-function electronic pedals with water selection, chair movement control, micromotor rotation and Chip Blower function.

What are the differences between one pedal and another?

The big difference between one and another is that the standard model works with a cable the wireless is connected via WiFi. This wireless pedal has a long autonomy and can continue to work during recharges, in addition, the battery status will appear on the monitor screen to know at all times if it needs to be recharged. It has an autonomy of approximately 4 months and can be connected to the chair by a cable while work continues.

Dental suction system: Brief Definition

The dental aspiration system is one of the essential elements of any clinic or dental practice. Its main use is related to the reduction or elimination of cross contamination between the patient and the dentist through motors and aspiration systems.

Through this aspiration it is achieved that the cloud of microorganisms has a radius of less than 30 cm, which is a smaller average distance than that separating the professional from the patient.

The aspirator is a tube that is responsible for sucking the saliva that accumulates in the oral cavity of the patient and is composed of a cannula and a tube or tube of rubber.

How the dental chair aspiration system works

There are two types of dental suction: wet suction and dry suction.

In the wet suction system no air-liquid separators are placed in the dental equipment, and both the liquids and the air are taken to the suction system. In this system, the suction motor works in dry, but the same device has an air-water separator, more efficient than the one usually placed in dental equipment, which ensures that no type of liquid reaches the motor. The liquids are sent to a drain that must be placed in the engine room.

The dry suction system gets its name because the air-liquid separation is carried out in the dental equipment by means of a centrifugal or decanting separator. In this way, all the liquid is taken to a drain that must be located under each of the dental units of the clinic.

When separating the liquid in each of the equipment, we need a separator and a drain for equipment, but we do not need drainage in the clinic’s machine room, since only dry air arrives in the suction system.

What you should know about the dental aspiration system before equipping your clinic

The first and most important when equipping your clinic with a dental aspiration system is to know if you prefer a dry or wet suction system.

Once you have acquired your aspiration system, it is very important that you take into account its cleaning and maintenance. It should be cleaned every day with a disinfectant to avoid unpleasant odors and also that the system clogs and stops working.

Pedal

The pedal in a dental unit serves to activate the rotation of the different instruments, for example regulating the chair or activating the water of the water group. In the SD 150 model the pedal is progressive and has control of the micromotor through a potentiometer.
